EasyLiving Home® Replication Summit

January 28-30, 2009

Embassy Suites Hotel
Atlanta - Perimeter Center

EasyLiving Home® is the nation's first voluntary certification program that specifies criteria in everyday construction to add convenience to your new home and to welcome all friends, family and visitors regardless of age, size or physical ability. EasyLiving Home® - a home visitable by everybody!

EasyLiving Home® features include:

  • Easy Access with a step-free entrance from a driveway, sidewalk or other firm route into the central living area (maximum threshold of ½”).
  • Easy Passage because the exterior door that provides the step-free entrance and EVERY interior passage door on the main level (including bathrooms) is at least a 3’0” or 2’10” door that provides 32 inches of clear passage.
  • Easy Use with no less than one bedroom, a kitchen, some entertainment area, and at least one full bathroom with sufficient maneuvering space, all on the main floor.

We successfully expanded the program in West Virginia, New Hampshire and Texas in 2005. Since the January 2007 Summit, we are now working with four other states that are considering applying for replication.

With “visitability” becoming better known nationally, the market for universally designed houses larger than ever, and many inquiries about EasyLiving Home® from around the nation, it is time to expand our growth nationwide!

An EasyLiving Home® Program in Your Locale — What It Takes To Make It happen!

An enthusiastic group of people forms a coalition that encompasses a large metropolitan area or a statewide coalition.

The coalition includes a commitment to full participation from a statewide or large metropolitan Home Builders Association.

The coalition also includes a commitment to full participation from one or more statewide or large metropolitan disability-related organizations such as a Statewide Independent Living Council, an Independent Living Center, a Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities.

“Full participation” means the participation of a designated individual to attend nearly all the meetings of your coalition, as well as carry out various activities identified by your coalition, in order to enhance the continuity needed to plan and carry out the program.

All in all, we’re looking for a few well qualified, enthusiastic coalitions who want to help shape the future of housing!

Program Includes:

  • Introduction and Presentation of the EasyLiving Home® Program
  • History of it's development in Georgia
  • How the Coalition Works
  • How to Build a Coalition in Your State
  • Panel of Builders' Success Stories
  • Tour of EasyLiving Homes
  • ...and all the information you need to start the program in your state

You will be delighted with your accommodations at the beautiful, newly renovated hotel.
