John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods has completed the first homes in Cadence at Woodmont in East Cherokee County, the company’s first active adult neighborhood exclusively for those aged 55 and better. A gated 126-home neighborhood, Cadence is located adjacent to Wieland’s prestigious Woodmont Golf and Country Club. Cadence also marks Wieland’s first affiliation with Easy Living Home®, a voluntary certification program for new home builders focused on universal design and accessibility features. The EasyLiving Home® certification for the model home at Cadence was presented by the program’s new Honorary Chair, US Congressman Tom Price, at a special ceremony Friday, May 9.
Congressman Price was joined by local Cherokee County officials as well as representatives of EasyLivingHome® and John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods for the certification at Cadence. “Georgia is a leader in attracting and selling appropriate housing geared to our dynamically changing population,” Price notes. “It is my privilege to work with this high caliber group at a time when other states are following Georgia’s lead by replicating the EasyLivingHome® program.”
After the presentation, Cadence’s new Richmond Designer Model was opened for its first tours. “Cadence is an exciting venture for our company,” says Jason Wingfield, vice president of Wieland’s North Atlanta division. “It marks not only our first active adult neighborhood but also our first incorporation of EasyLiving Home design standards into our homes here. These are great universal features that can make a home more convenient for homeowners of any age or lifestyle.”
EasyLivingHome® accessibility features incorporated in the homes at Cadence include a step-free entrance, a minimum of 32 inches of clear passage space for every main-level interior passage and a main level that incorporates no less than one bedroom, full bathroom, kitchen and entertainment area. Homes at Cadence range in size from 2675 to 3200 square feet and also offer gourmet kitchens, owners’ suites with spa baths and elegant outdoor courtyard spaces. Prices range from the $300s to $400s.
